The Upper School will open in September 2008 with students in middle school and grade 9. This does not mean that our current school will be changing -- Capital City will have middle schoolers in both locations. We are expanding our highly successful middle school model and building on it to create a challenging, innovative high school program.
The Upper School Design Team includes parents, students, teachers, Board members, and interested people from the community. These individuals are concerned about the quality of the current high school options in DC, and believe that the Capital City formula of a rigorous curriculum, the Expeditionary Learning model, support and enrichment to meet every student's needs, and a diverse community of actively involved families is what older students need and deserve in their school.
We are looking for more community volunteers to join the Design Team and/or help with a wide range of projects this year, from updating the Upper School's website to developing graduation requirements to deciding on the technology that Upper School students and staff will need.
