Katryna Andrusik, Instructional Coach & Curriculum Coordinator
Dr. Andrusik joined Capital City in July 2014. She holds a Ph.D. in Special Education: Learning Disabilities from the University of Maryland, College Park; a Master of Science in Education: Reading Specialist from Johns Hopkins University; and a Bachelor of Arts in French and English from Johns Hopkins University.
She has 20 years of teaching experience in public, private, and charter schools, at the university level, and in non-profit teacher preparation programs in the Baltimore/DC area. Before becoming the High School Instructional Coach, she was the founding Assistant Director of Curriculum and Professional Development, Special Education and Humanities, at Urban Teachers. She has served as an adjunct professor at Lesley University, Johns Hopkins University, and Trinity Washington University and is currently a lecturer at Catholic University of America and the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Andrusik has presented and published locally and nationally on topics such as pre-service and residency teacher preparation, leading teacher professional development, and teaching students with exceptional learning needs.
Dr. Andrusik is an Adoption Coordinator for a Baltimore-based animal rescue, and in her spare time, enjoys CrossFit, fostering dogs, practicing yoga, and traveling with her spouse. She is conversational in French and continues to work to improve her language skills in Spanish.
