Kietryn Samuelsen, 11th Grade English Teacher
Kietryn joined Capital City in August 2017. She holds a Master of Education in General and Special Education from Lesley University and a Bachelor' in Sociology with a Women’s Studies Concentration from the University of Scranton.
Most of her experience and training comes from participating and being a member of Urban Teacher Center, AVID, and Restorative Practice. Prior to Capital City, Kietryn was a Health and Fitness Educator for K-8th grade students in Philadelphia Public Schools as an Americorps Member and worked as an Upward Bound English Teacher at UMBC.
Prior to joining Capital City, Kietryn worked as an English and Special Education Teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools and was the Class Advisor for 11th and 12th graders.
Kietryn speaks intermediate French. She likes exercising/living a healthy lifestyle (with plenty of room for ice cream, of course), exploring different places and getting to know people's stories, writing, hiking, taking photographs, spending time with family and her pup (awesome being an aunt and a dog momma), and just trying to do her part to make the world a bit brighter with kindness and a positive spirit!
