Heidi Marohn, 6th Grade Humanities Teacher
Heidi joined Capital City in 2011. She has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and an Master of Arts in International Educational Development and Peace Education from Columbia University.
At Capital City, Heidi has served on the Instructional Leadership Team and as a member of the Math Leadership Cadre. She is an enthusiastic supporter of EL Education and moved to DC specifically to teach at Capital City for that reason. Prior to joining the Capital City family, Heidi taught in the first and fourth grades in Plano, Texas. In 2015, she received a Fund for Teachers Fellowship to study the impact of trauma on student learning.
While in graduate school, Heidi worked as graduate and research assistant at Columbia University. To learn more about how peace education is practiced both internationally and domestically in the United States, Heidi interned for Search for Common Ground in Macedonia and Kosovo and the International Rescue Committee in New York City.
Heidi’s hobbies include practicing yoga, training for and completing triathlons, going to museums, and exploring DC by foot.
