Jessica Leader, 7th Grade Humanities Teacher
Jessica joined Capital City in August 2016. She holds a Master of Arts from New York University in English Education and Educational Theatre, a Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, and a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University.
Prior to Capital City, Jessica taught middle school English, drama, and humanities for more than 15 years. Jessica received the Kentucky Arts Council Al Smith Writers’ Fellowship, and has participated in the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and the Gilder Lehrman Seminar on The History of Slavery. Jessica is also the author of “Nice and Mean,” a novel for middle-schoolers published by Simon and Schuster.
Outside of the classroom, Jessica enjoys doodling, running, reading, singing loudly to herself, and playing with her two young children.
