Sarah Riggen

Sarah Riggen, 6th Grade Science Teacher

Sarah first joined Capital City in 2008 as a Science and Math teacher. She holds a Master in Elementary Education from Boston College and a Bachelor in Environmental Geology and Environmental Science from William and Mary University.

Sarah brings to Capital City over 14 years of teaching experience having previously taught at Neighborhood House Public Charter School in Dorchester, MA, SEED Public Charter School, Wilson High School and Oyster Adams Bilingual School in DC. Sarah has received significant training from the  American Meteorological Society and NASA. Sarah was an Earthwatch Fellow and a Fulbright Japan Participant and was named a DC Teacher of the Year Finalist in 2015. 

In her free time, if she is not singing in the St. Augustine Gospel Choir, she is spending quality time with her family.
