ABOUT OUR DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM
Capital City Public Charter School delivers a comprehensive distance learning program for all students across PreK-12th grade. Families can expect:

High-quality instruction through live classes and pre-recorded lessons

Strong focus on social and emotional learning and community building

FREE virtual after-school clubs and sports for students across PK-12th grade

Implementation of the EL Education model including expeditions and arts programming

Technology, supplies, and materials to support learning at home

Trainings and support for families on technology and the curriculum

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
We send a weekly email called This Week at Capital City to families on Mondays with campus and school-level information. Families also receive a text message with a link to the email. Stay connected by reading this newsletter weekly.

VIRTUAL TOWNHALLS AND COFFEE CHATS
We regularly host Townhalls and Coffee Chats to share updates with families, receive feedback, and answer questions. For all upcoming events, visit our website calendar. Listen to recordings below.
FREE MEALS DISTRIBUTION
During distance learning, Capital City will continue to provide students with meals. Families can pick up a box of five breakfasts and five lunches every Monday from 10am - 2pm (or as long as supplies last) from our cafeteria's parking lot entrance.
- All children under the age of 18 can receive free meals on Mondays.
- The child(ren) do not need to be present to pick up the meals and do not need to be enrolled at Capital City.
FREE AND REDUCED MEALS (FARM) APPLICATION
All families should either confirm they have received direct certification from the city as a recipient of SNAP or TANF services, or they should visit www.payschoolscentral.com to create an account to complete the Free and Reduced Meals (FARM) Application online. This includes families who choose to refuse meals benefits. If you need help setting up an account or if you need your child's student ID number, please call 202-808-9726 (English) or 202-808-9700 (Spanish).
TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT
- Visit the Lower School, Middle School, or High School hub for technology support specific to your child.
- Check out the Library and Innovation Team Instagram page for trainings, tutorials, and tech tips related to distance learning.

KIDS RIDE FREE PROGRAM
- Are a resident of the District of Columbia, and
- Age 5 through 21, and
- Enrolled in an elementary or secondary public, charter, private or parochial school in the District or a ward of DC through the foster care system.
MEDIA RELEASES
We take seriously our responsibility to protect student privacy. During distance learning, live classes will be recorded and made available for absent students and for families to support learning at home. They will not be shared publicly. Similar to previous years, we will only publicly share images of students with media releases.
