A Familiar Face Returns to our High School Dance Classes

Capital City was so excited to have Ayanna Gallant back in the building as a guest teacher for our high school students in November.  Ayanna was our beloved Middle School music teacher for 10 years and left Capital City last year to pursue a career as a full time voice-over actress and professional musician. She now leads music and SEL workshops around the DMV.  As part of her guest teaching with our high school students, she is focused on the connections between the movement, storytelling, and rhythms of West Africa. At the end of her residency, our dance students will have created arrangements of the pieces Dibon and YeYe.  For Ayanna, returning to Capital City is “like coming back to family.”  She greatly enjoyed working with students she taught in Middle School as well as meeting students who are new to Capital City.  Welcome back, “Ms. G!”
