Join us on Saturday, May 20 from 6-9pm as we recognize Head of School Karen Dresden for her transformational leadership and celebrate 23 years of Capital City Public Charter School.
At this event, we will recognize and celebrate the incredible impact that Karen has made on DC students. This summer, Karen will be stepping down as Head of School of Capital City, which she co-founded in 2000. The first parent-founded public charter school in DC, Capital City began with just 135 students and now serves more than 1,000 students in PreK-12th grades.
A portion of your ticket helps support our enrichment programs and whole child approach, both initiatives that are dear to Karen's heart. Additional sponsorship packages are available here.
Refreshments and food will be served. Cocktail attire is encouraged.
*Please note: This is a 21 and older event only.*

"For the last 30 years Karen has worked tirelessly to improve education quality and equity in learning outcomes for children and youth in the District of Columbia. As a founding principal of Capital City in 2000, Karen is the only head of school that many of our current and past students and parents have known, her name synonymous with the school’s mission and culture. Karen’s leadership has embodied our core values including creativity, a love of learning, commitment to community and a deep rooted sense of personal and civic responsibility."
— Dr. Nitika Tolani, Chair, Board of Trustees for Capital City Public Charter School
